The PORTUGUESE SOCIETY PHYSIOTERAPIST (APF), is a non profit association, created in November, 12 th, 1960, and with residence in Rua João Villaret, número 285-A, Urbanização Terplana, 2785-679  S. Domingos de Rana.

All national or foreign physioterapists, with an degree in a portuguese or foreign School, approved or equalized according to portuguese law, and residing in Portugal, can register in APF, as long as they are currently practising.

There are 6000 estimated practising physioterapists in our country.

The physiotherapist focuses on the analysis and evaluation of the movement and posture, based upon the body structure and function. He uses specific educational and therapeutic approaches based essentially upon the movement, and manipulative therapies, in physical and natural environments, aiming the promotion of health and the prevention of disease, impairment and inability, and caring and rehabilitating the individuals who have any kind of physical, mental or development disorder, including pain, with the intent of helping them to achieve the maximum functionality and quality of life.
