Shaping the future

The European Region of WCPT has among its aims:

To promote the development of reciprocity of physiotherapy qualifications and to improve the quality of physiotherapy education and practice in Europe.

To promote free movement and the right of establishment of physiotherapists in Europe. For this reason, the General Meeting of the European Region of WCPT has decided to organise a European Congress on Physiotherapy Education under the title “Linking Education Profession and Employment”.

Education and life long learning are important for professional identity, quality of service provision and can enable the objectives of free movement of professionals, across Europe to be achieved.

Physiotherapy is an autonomous regulated profession, with identified diversities among the countries, which we see as positive a factor, and the profession has the responsibility to achieve general agreements towards convergence, in order to be clearly accepted as one single profession, and promote its own development.

Creating this opportunity for all involved, directly or indirectly, with educational matters to share their ideas and projects, the European Region of WCPT wants to make its contribution to achieve a better linkage between Education, Profession and Employment.

On behalf of the Executive Committee I would like to invite you all to participate in this event, and be active partners in the process of shaping the future of the profession.

António M F Lopes

Chairman

It is a pleasure and an honour to the Portuguese Association of Physiotherapists to host the European Congress on Physiotherapy Education.

We shall do our best so that 4th and 5th of 2004 may remain in the minds of all the participants as an important milestone on the enhancement of physiotherapy.

The Estoril Coast, with its mild climate and beautiful landscape, was chosen on purpose to hold this event, for we intended to offer a nice and friendly environment promoting a good relationship among the participants while developing ideas and exchanging professional experiences.

Hopefully this meeting will become a lasting and good memory for everyone. We are looking forward to welcoming you in this attractive city of Estoril.
